Skin Stress 2: Oiliness
Shine is good when in the right places – a shimmery eye, a glossy lip, a bit of highlight on the cheeks. But when it’s beaming out from your T-zone, well that’s another story. If you’ve moved well beyond the teenage years, chances are stress is a major contributor, says Emma Hobson, education manager for The International Dermal Institute, who adds that other external contributors are heat and humidity.

If left unchecked, oil-slick skin can develop into acne conditions (see Skin Stress 3). So how to deal? First of all, know how extreme your greasiness is. “Just being aware of your
own skin’s nuances gives you an indication of the quantity of products you need,” says
Hobson. “Do you get a 3 o’clock shine on the T-zone or do you tend to find that foundation literally runs down your face?” There are many different products designed to soak up excess skin slick so experiment to find what works best for you.

Oily skins can get congested with pimples, so use scrubs or pore treatments on those bumpy areas regularly. But, whatever you do, don’t go OTT. “You don’t want anything that strips the skin,” says Hobson. “Because if you over-dry the skin, it’ll just produce more oil.” Try adding one oil-control product into your skincare system until you’ve achieved the skin look you like
